BURLINGTON, Vt. -
Another day-- another debate for the candidates hoping to be Burlington's next mayor.
All three candidates were at City Hall Thursday, including Independent Wanda Hines who did not attend two other debates this week. This event was hosted by journalists from Seven Days and Vermont Public Radio, along with WCAX's Kristin Carlson.
Carlson asked the candidates, "Other than the occupy moment, what is the best thing Mayor Kiss has done in his tenure here?"
Democratic candidate Miro Weinberger said, "I give Mayor Kiss real credit for the effort to pave the streets. I think it will be a challenge for the next mayor to continue that success and keep the streets in as good condition as they are now."
Republican candidate Kurt Wright said, "The senior centers were very close to closing. I went to Mayor Kiss and also worked the City Council and we came up with a proposal and made sure that those vital services to our seniors across the city stayed open."
Independent Wanda Hines said, "I'm going to say when he restructured the legacy project. It maintains the vision, the sustainability vision of the city of Burlington. He decided he would have coordinators-- coordinators who could better address the changes in our community."
Burlington's Channel 17 public access hosted the event.
