Ashley Chase

Ashley Chase is a native of Western Pennsylvania. She comes to WCAX from KCAU-TV in Sioux City, Iowa.

Ashley attended Morningside College in Sioux City, receiving a bachelor's degree in Mass Communications. She served as Sports Director for the college radio station, also working as a sports broadcaster for football and basketball. During that time, Ashley interned at Fox Sports Radio as a co-host for a daily sports talk show, and as a play-by-play and color commentator for local high school, college, and semi-pro sports teams.

Ashley grew up in Pittsburgh Steelers country and is a big fan of the Black & Gold, but Ashley is most passionate about hockey and auto racing. She is a Penguins fan and further developed her love of hockey while covering the Sioux City Musketeers of the USHL. She also enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves as a child. After moving to the Midwest, Ashley became a Minnesota Twins fan, and had the pleasure of watching the Twins capture the AL Central Title in their brand new ballpark, Target Field, in 2010.

Ashley's favorite sports experiences include attending the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska, meeting & interviewing Jim Craig, the goaltender for the 1980 ‘Miracle On Ice' United States Hockey team, and seeing the Steelers defeat the Vikings at the Metrodome.

Some of her best racing memories include interviewing NASCAR driver Carl Edwards at a dirt late-model race near Omaha, Neb., attending her first NASCAR race in the summer of 2011 at Kansas City Speedway.

Ashley is an avid sports fan, whether she's at work or enjoying her free time. Dirt-track racing is one of her favorite sports and she toured the Midwest alongside Modified and Sport-Modified racing teams for three seasons. Ashley desperately wants to be behind the wheel of a racecar (for a story, or for fun), and she's also looking for a "Learn to Skate" program so she can lace up the skates and learn to play hockey.

Ashley is very passionate about music. She first attended college as a Music Education major at Messiah College in Central Pennsylvania and still enjoys singing and playing the trumpet. In high school, Ashley played basketball and was a member of the band, student council, drama club, FFA, choir, quiz bowl, and a variety of youth mentoring programs.

Growing up in a small town and near her grandparents farm, the rural community life is something she enjoys, but Ashley is always excited to check out different cities. When visiting home in the summer, you can find Ashley with family, on a four-wheeler (ATV) racing around the farm with her cousins, or at a family cabin in the forest.

Ashley is thrilled to be covering sports in Vermont and the surrounding area.
