BURLINGTON, Vt. -
About two weeks remain before Town Meeting Day when Burlington residents select their new mayor. But already more than 500 people have cast their ballots.
City staffers say of the more than 2,200 absentee ballots mailed to voters, 547 have been filled out and returned. They say it's unclear how those numbers compare to previous mayoral elections.
Residents can request an absentee ballot up until March 5, the day before the election. Ballots requested after Feb. 29 will need to be picked up in person.
In order to be counted, absentee votes must be received by 2 p.m. Election Day.
