Arrested at the Lowell wind site: a journalist shares his story

BURLINGTON, Vt. -

A Barton Chronicle reporter was arrested while covering a protest on the Lowell Mountain wind energy site.

In December, Chris Braithwaite, who publishes the weekly newspaper, was covering the protesters who oppose construction of wind turbines. The protestors refused to move and were arrested for unlawful trespassing. Braithwaite was there working on a story, but police charged him along with protesters. Braithwaite was the only reporter there and the case has raised questions about a journalist's rights on private property.
