STOWE, Vt. -
Five fire departments fought a house fire in Stowe Wednesday evening.
Crews say flames and smoke were coming through the roof when the call came in around 4:15 p.m.
Fire crews say a family of five from New Jersey was living in the home on Upper Hollow Road. They got out safely.
More than 40 firefighters were on scene, in part to help get water.
"We're outside the hydrant district up here. Hydrants are not available up here. Called for a lot of tankers to bring water," said 1st Assistant Chief Mark Walker with the Stowe Fire Department.
Walker says the home suffered a lot of damage. There is no word on a possible cause.
