PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -
One of the candidates running to represent New York's 23rd Congressional District made her first stop in the Plattsburgh area since kicking off her campaign.
Kellie Greene, 44, spoke to a class at Plattsburgh State before a town hall meeting at Plattsburgh City Hall. Greene is a consultant in the international shipping logistics and global trade industry. She considers herself a conservative Republican. The main focuses of her campaign will be job creation, reducing taxes and government regulations and foreign trade policy.
"The other thing we need to do is look at our export policies and how do we support more export-oriented growth. Most countries are concerned about important policies but they don't look at the export policies and I think we have to do that," Greene said.
Greene will face Watertown businessman Matt Doheny in the Republican primary scheduled for June. The winner will take on Democratic incumbent Bill Owens next November.
