Rutland man pleads not guilty in deadly crash

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. -

A man charged with killing two people in a Jan. 15 car crash pleaded not guilty Tuesday.

Police say Joshua Ouimette, 25, of Rutland, crossed the centerline on Route 4 in Bridgewater, causing a head-on collision that killed Christopher Raleigh, 56, and his 10-year-old son, Travis, of Las Vegas.

Ouimette was charged with two felony counts of careless and negligent operation with death resulting.

Police say the felony charges are warranted because data from the computer in Ouimette's car indicates he was speeding, swerved suddenly into the other lane and never applied his brakes.
