Late flu season impacts Vermont

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. -

The state of Vermont is reporting widespread flu activity, including cases in long-term care facilities in Addison, Bennington, Caledonia, Lamoille, Rutland, Windsor and Chittenden counties.

The Vt. Health Department is advising health care providers to give antiviral treatment to long-term care residents who have confirmed or suspected influenza.

Seniors, children, pregnant women, and anyone with a serious chronic illness is particularly vulnerable to complications from the flu.

This is quite a turnaround. Just last week the health department told us flu activity was downgraded in Vermont to sporadic.
