CASTLETON, Vt. -
Former Vermont Governor Philip Hoff was honored in Castleton Sunday.
Hoff was the first Democratic elected Governor in the state since 1854. He was the guest of honor at a luncheon at Castleton State College. Those on hand gave speeches about Hoff's impact on them and on state government. At the end of the event, Castleton President David Wolk presented Hoff with a distinct honor -- a new campus building in his name.
"Last week at a meeting of the state colleges board of trustees, by unanimous vote, the board of trustees decided that this new beautiful building that I am going to unveil right now, will forever be called in honor and celebration of Vermont Governor Philip Hoff -- Hoff Hall," Wolk said.
Construction on Hoff Hall is set to be finished this June. It will be a completely solar-powered, 162 bed dormitory.
