Here are a few of the loving animals that are currently living at the Rutland County Humane Society.

Flash

9 year old.  Neutered Male.  Beagle.  27 lbs.

I am a sweet fellow who is looking for someone who can spend a lot of time with me.  I walk well on a leash and I know how to sit and lie down.  I'm an easy going and gentle fellow and I'm very smart!  I arrived at RCHS on September 17.  I was surrendered because I wasn't the right fit for my family.  Though independent, I like to know that there is someone home with me.  I can get anxious when I am left home alone.  I love to go for walks!  Being a Beagle I like to follow my nose so I should never be allowed off leash.  RCHS recommends I go to a home with kids aged teenage and up because I have never lived with children before.  I have lived with cats before and I like them.  It took me 4-6 months to get used to the cats in my previous home so if you have cats, please be advised that it will take me some time to get used to them.  I have never lived with dogs before so if your family already has a dog, then a dog-to-dog introduction will be important.  I am looking for a stay at home family and I have medium level exercise requirements.  If you have the time for a sweet guy like me, please stop by and visit with me!

Donovan

1 year old.  Neutered Male.  Hound mix.  32 lbs.

I'm as cute as can be!  I'm very playful and I love to go for walks.  Being a Hound mix, I tend to follow my nose and I can be independent at times.  Being a young dog my previous owner said that I love to chew so I shouldn't be left unattended to free roam the house.  I arrived at RCHS on November 7.  I was surrendered because my owner had too many pets.  RCHS recommends that I go to a home with children ages 12 years old or older because I have never lived with children before and I need some work with body handling.  I have lived with cats and dogs before and we got along fine.  I am looking for an active family that can keep up with my high exercise requirements.  I like attention but I will need some work with body handling because I can become a little uncomfortable with a lot of handling.  I am crate trained so that is a big help.  I will also need some work walking politely on a leash.  I love to sniff and when I get outside I forget that someone is on the other end of the leash!  I may be on the smaller side but I am very strong.  If you love Hounds and have room in your heart for a new buddy, then please stop by and visit me!

Reno

2 year old.  Neutered Male.  Siberian Husky/German Shepherd mix.  61 lbs.

I am extremely handsome!  I love to go for walks, especially in the woods, and I enjoy attention.  I walk very well on a leash and I enjoy playing.  Once I get outside and run around and burn off some energy I can be a fairly mellow guy.  I arrived at RCHS on November 13 as a stray from Rutland.  Since I was a stray dog with an unknown history with children, RCHS recommends I go to a home with children ages 12 years old or older.  As to other dogs and cats, proper introductions are a must!  I am looking for an active family that can keep up with my high exercise requirements.  I should not be allowed outside in a fenced-in yard unsupervised because I tend to dig.  I can be a bit uncomfortable being overly handled so some work with body handling would be important.  I enjoy snacks so if you come to the shelter to visit with me could you please bring me some treats?

Lamborghini

1 year old.  Spayed Female.  Domestic Short Hair Black & White.  6 lbs.

I'm a friendly gal who likes to run around and play, but maybe not as fast as the car I'm named for!  I like to be held, petted and picked up and I get along well with everyone!  I like cats and people but I've never met a dog before so I don't know how that might go.  I like playing with toys and I especially like catnip!

Sea

2 year old.  Spayed Female.  Domestic Short Hair Black.  8 lbs.

Some people are rescued at sea but I was rescued from Rutland!  You see, I was a stray in Rutland and was brought to RCHS, thank goodness!  I've had a chance to get yummy food, love and attention and now I'm ready to move to my new home!  I like other cats and I'm sweet as can be!  I like to play and feather toys are my favorite.  Catnip is a close second and, honestly, I'll play with any toy you give me!  I'm easy to get along with and I'll add that certain something to your home if you adopt me!
