RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) - The Vermont chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union says it's suing the school district based in Fair Haven on behalf of a parent who was labeled dangerous and barred from school functions.
The ACLU said Friday that after Marcel Cyr of Benson criticized school administrators, he was served with a no-trespass order by the Addison-Rutland Supervisory Union that means he can't attend school board meetings, drop his child off at school, or attend his child's concerts, plays, and games.
The ACLU says the school told Cyr it had received a tip that he was dangerous. The lawsuit says the school won't explain what the tipster said or give Cyr a chance to rebut the allegation.
The school superintendent has not returned a phone call or email seeking comment.
