A Massachusetts man implicated in a
murder in southern Vermont has pleaded guilty to federal drug charges.
Frank Caraballo admitted to five
counts of distributing cocaine in the Brattleboro area in June and July of
2011. He could get six to 30 years in prison on each count.
Caraballo was originally charged with the drug-related
killing of Melissa Barratt, 31, last summer in Dummerston. Those charges in
state court were dropped when the feds took over the case. Federal prosecutors
say they are reviewing whether to bring murder charges against Caraballo, which
would potentially bring the death penalty into play.
