
One of the largest track meets of the year, the Essex Invitational held today. The event is a New England regional qualifier and the athletes were at their best.
Mollie Gribbin continues her elite performances in multiple events. The South Burlington star set a meet record of 18-feet 4.25 inches in the long jump. Gribbin also wins the triple jump, the 100 meter dash, and set a new state record in the 200 meter dash. The home team getting a win from Mariah Neverett. The Essex sophomore winning by 3-tenths of a second in the 300 meter hurdles.
In the Boys 1600 meter run, runners from Milton, Rutland, and St. Johnsbury take the final lap 1-2-3. But it's Jamie Moore of Bellows Falls making the pass in the final 400 meters to take the win. In the girls 4x100 meter relay, Shelby McLenithan running the anchor leg for Mount Anthony who set's a new D-2 state record with the first place finish. The boys 4x100 meter relay is a battle to the finish and Colchester's William Ward on the anchor pulls ahead by .08 seconds for the Lakers win.
Another meet record falling in the boys pole vault. BFA's Ed Simon clears 14-feet to win todays event, setting the new invite mark. State championships for track take place next Saturday.
