Police are looking for an armed gunman who may be tricking motorists into thinking he needs help.
On Friday night police say a truck went off the road in East Calais, crashing into a stone wall on Route 14. The driver told investigators he was fleeing from a man who pulled a gun on him in Marshfield.
Dan Greenwood of Orleans said he was unfamiliar with the area but stopped to help a man who appeared to be broken down. That's when he says the suspect, described as a black man, about six feet tall, pointed the gun at him and his passenger. Greenwood says he sped away but the suspect followed. He told police the chase lasted a few miles before he lost control and crashed.
The suspect was not located. His vehicle is described as a small, green car. If you have any information call the Vermont State Police.
