CABOT, Vt. -

Police are searching for an armed robber who forced his way into a home, tied up the resident, and then fled with cash.

It happened along Route 215 in Cabot.

Leonard Spencer, 67, told police someone knocked on his door just before 1:30 a.m. Friday, saying they were having car trouble and needed help. But when he opened the door he found a young man armed with a rifle who barged into the house, demanding cash.

Spencer gave the man an undisclosed amount of money and says the intruder then tied him up and fled on foot.

The robber is described as a young white man dressed in hunter camouflage clothing and a black ski mask.
