The continued impact of embezzlement

HARDWICK, Vt. -

One of the state's largest embezzlement cases continues to have an impact.

Joyce Bellevance is serving jail time for stealing 1 point 6 million dollars from the Hardwick Electric Department. This week the small utility received more than 3-hundred thousand dollars from various sources-- including Bellevance's assets. Almost 180-- THOUSAND dollars-- came from Bellevance's 401 retirement account. The Hardwick Gazette reported this week the money came just in time for the utility to make a line of credit payment to the bank. Bellevance is currently serving a 3 and a half year sentence in Minnesota.
