Towson University has a new area code, 4-4-3. Reigning America East Rookie of the year, Four McGlynn is headed to Towson in the Fall. McGlynn tells his hometown Pennsylvania newspaper that he was looking to move closer to home for family reasons.
"It was a difficult situation, obviously Vermont was upset. Transfers typically don't ask for their release this late," McGlynn told the paper. "We were surprised to get it....Once I got my release, it finally settled down."
McGlynn said he talked to a few schools, but his only visit was to Towson on Saturday. His commute to school is going to be about 45 minutes.
Towson finished last season 1-31. That includes a 65-49 home defeat to the Catamounts right before Christmas. The Tigers are scheduled to play at UVM this coming season. McGlynn won't be making the trip. He has to sit out the next year due to NCAA's rules on transfers.
