MASSENA, N.Y. -
Grab your paddles cowboys-- it's time for the annual goose roundup!
Every year the New York Department of Conservation holds a roundup near Massena.
Volunteers herd Canada geese into pens in the style of a cattle drive.
Biologists then examine the geese, band them, and release them back into the marsh.
The event always takes place in late June because that's when the geese lose their flight feathers and can't fly. This year's roundup will take place June 27.
