ESSEX, Vt. -

An Essex man involved in a home invasion-related stabbing this month will soon find out if the state will file criminal charges against him.

Chittenden County Prosecutor T.J. Donovan says he will hold a press conference Tuesday to announce whether his office will prosecute Shawn Garrett, 40.

Police say on June 1, Ryan Morton-Lane, 30, of Connecticut, broke into Garrett's Essex home and threatened him with a knife. The two men started fighting and during the altercation Morton-Lane was fatally stabbed in the chest.

Police say Garrett has been cooperating with the investigation.
