WATERTOWN, N.Y. -
It appears the only scheduled debate between the two Republicans running for New York's 21st Congressional district will not happen.
On June 4 Kellie Greene walked into Matt Doheny's headquarters and challenged him to a debate. His campaign accepted the challenge. The Clifton-Fine Economic Development Corporation agreed to host the debate Tuesday night at the SUNY ESF Ranger School in Wanakena. Doheny accepted the invite, Greene has not.
"I found it ironic and again, we look forward to debating, hopefully people can put it together. Unfortunately we are down to a very short period of time now. We're eager to debate, eager to accept and eager to do so," Doheny said.
Greene says she received a phone call about the debate last week when she was in Arizona graduating from seminary school, but has not been able to reach that person. Her campaign issued this statement about the debate Tuesday night: "We have still not received any details or even an invitation from the people putting this debate together."
