CVES to lay off 84 workers

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -

Eighty-four people are losing their jobs in northern New York.

According to the Plattsburgh Press-Republican, Champlain Valley Education Services plans to lay off seven dozen employees by this fall to try to cope with declining enrollment.

CVES assists 17 school districts in northern New York by offering career and technical trainingand special education services to students.

About 320 people currently work at CVES.
