CONCORD, N.H. -
New Hampshire Governor John Lynch has vetoed a bill that would have given a tax credit to businesses who help students switch from public to private schools.
The tax credit would have been awarded to companies that gave scholarships for private and home school students.
Supporters say the legislation was meant to give parents more choices, but Lynch argued that it would allow private organizations to determine the use of public education funds.
He said the bill shifts money away from public schools and doesn't fully target scholarships to the most needy students.
