WESTMINSTER, Vt. -

A Vermont couple survived a close call Tuesday after being swept over a waterfall on the Saxtons River.

Police say Hunter Dwinell Jr., 20, and his wife, Amber Dwinell, 25, of Bellows Falls, were fishing in Westminster near Twin Falls when Amber lost her footing and her husband went in after her. The current sucked them both over the first set of falls-- about a 20-foot drop.

Another couple saw them and called 911.

Officers and the fire department responded and were able to get the pair out.

The Dwinells suffered just minor cuts.
