Two Vermont specialty food companies are celebrating a big win in a national competition his week.
Vermont Butter and Cheese and Big Picture Farm both took home top honors for their products at the National Association of Specialty Food Trades Fancy Food show. The group hands out SOFI awards, which stands for Specialty Outstanding Food Innovation.
Vermont butter and cheese took home three gold awards for their Bonne Bouche cheese, their butter and for best overall product line. They say awards like this are a win for all Vermont producers.
"We have some unbelieveable companies making some great products and this kind of validates what everybody does here," says Bob Reese with Vermont Butter and Cheese Creamery. "We have a great reputation outside of the state of Vermont for making quality products, but this just reinforces that. It makes everyone aware of what we do everyday."
The Big Picture Farm in Brattleboro also took home a SOFI Gold for their goat milk caramels in the confections category.
