This week the Wallingford Sluggers get a chance to Meet the Monsters. The Sluggers play in the "Minors" division of the Long Trail League. They range in age from 7 to 10 years old. The Coaches make sure each player gets to play as many innings as possible.
Colby, 10 year old Pitcher: What is the furthest you've ever traveled for a game?"
JC Menna, Lake Monsters Pitcher: The furthest I've had to travel for a game had to be when I was living in New Jersey. I had to drive 19 hours to a part of Georgia to play a 9 inning baseball game then had to travel down to Florida. It was I'd say about 24 hours.
Tyler, 7 years old: What do you think of when you step into the batters box?
Dayton Alexander, Lake Monsters Outfielder: The first thing I think about when I get into the Batters Box is it's basically a battle between you and the pitcher. You're always going to win. You have to have that confidence and just always have the mentality that you'll always come out on top.
Gary, 10 year old Catcher/First Baseman: Have you ever played with a female athlete and what was it like?
Nate Eppley, Lake Monsters Pitcher: In college, I used to play in pick up basketball games with the female athletes that play at the school. It was a lot of fun, but sometimes I lost so it was a little embarrassing, but it was all in good fun.
