BRETTON WOODS, N.H. (AP) - A Massachusetts hiker had to be rescued from New Hampshire's Mount Washington after a fall.
Officials say 15-year-old Michael Hery of Peabody had spent the night at Lakes of Clouds Hut with his father and friend on Sunday when he fell and hurt his leg as the three were hiking down a trail on Monday.
Hery's father ran back to the hut and notified staff who were able to help the teenager back to the shelter, where his leg was splinted but he was unable to walk.
More than 20 rescuer workers carried Hery in a litter about 1.5 miles up to the summit of Mount Washington in the rain. Once there, he was driven to Memorial Hospital in North Conway.
