The third annual Social Media Day in Burlington kicks off Thursday.
Facebook, Twitter, and Foursquare gurus will gather at different events and workshops throughout the city for a two-day celebration of all things social media. They say it is an opportunity for the community to come together and meet face to face while discussing issues in the social media world and locally, while learning how to use the tools to better their businesses.
Organizers say they did not invent the idea, but the community is proud to call it their own.
"It was created by mashable.com which is kind of the CNN of all things social media and anything digital. They kind of created it and said cities get out there, get your people together and celebrate what gets us all together and have a lot of fun with a thing that really enriches our businesses," said Lara Dickson, an organizer of Burlington Social Media Day.
