BURLINGTON, Vt. -

The University of Vermont women's basketball team will play a 13-game non-conference schedule against teams from 10 different leagues during the 2012-13 season.

2012-13 Vermont Women's Basketball Schedule

The Catamounts will face four teams that earned berths to the postseason last year, including WNIT Champion Oklahoma State and NCAA participant Marist.

"We really like the balance of our schedule and what we feel it can do to prepare us for America East play," said Vermont head coach Lori Gear McBride.  "There are some very challenging games on the schedule, which is exactly what we need.  The travel is also a bit more manageable than in the previous two years."

UVM will host a pair of exhibition games against Northeast-10 opponents Saint Michael's on October 27 and Franklin Pierce on November 3.

Vermont opens the 2012-13 campaign at Marist, the defending MAAC Champions, on November 9 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.  UVM will face Columbia in its home opener on November 11 at Patrick Gymnasium.

The Catamounts will travel to Jacksonville, Fla. for the Thanksgiving holiday and take on Jacksonville University and the University of North Florida on November 21 and 24, respectively.

UVM will host the 19th edition of the TD Bank Classic on November 30 and December 1 at Patrick Gymnasium.  The 2012 field includes Drexel, Houston Baptist and Rhode Island.

Former UVM mentor Cathy Inglese is in her fourth season at the helm of Rhode Island.  She coached at Vermont for seven seasons (1986-93) and this year marks the 20th anniversary of UVM's back-to-back undefeated seasons (1991-92 and 1992-93), which were directed by Inglese.

Drexel advanced to the second round of the WNIT after falling to Delaware in the CAA Championship game.  Houston Baptist makes a return trip to Vermont after the Catamounts participated in and won the Husky Classic in Houston last season.

Vermont closes out the non-conference slate with four straight road games, including a trip to Oklahoma State on December 16 and Boston College on December 20.
