WINOOSKI, Vt. -
A fire had crews busy in Winooski Thursday.
Firefighters were called to Niquette Court Thursday afternoon. The smoky fire damaged the second floor, attic and ceilings. Although a family of four lives in the home, no one was there when the fire started and no injuries were reported. Firefighters say it was a tough battle due in part to the warmer weather.
"Finally get through all the crews so now you're fighting against people who've already been in and rehabbed once it makes it tough when it's hot like this and humidity jumps up and a hot fire when you've got to go in and work hard," said Winooski Fire Chief David Bergeron.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
