ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. -
Regional planners in the Northeast
Kingdom want a moratorium on new industrial wind development in that part of
the state.
The Kingdom is home to Vermont's
largest wind farm in Sheffield and another large-scale project under
construction in Lowell. Now with other projects on the drawing board, the
Northeastern Vermont Development Association wants to slam on the brakes.
The association's board voted Thursday
night for a three year moratorium on new wind development while they study the
impacts on the region.
The Vermont Public Service Board has
authority over wind development and the wishes of regional planners are among
the criteria the board considers.
