
Firefighters from the Green Mountain National Forest have been dispatched to help fight the worst wildfire in Colorado's history. Officials say 350 homes have burned, one person was killed and several others are missing.
Four Vermont firefighters and one from New Hampshire left Thursday for the San Juan National Forest in southwestern Colorado. Another Green Mountain National Forest employee is a member of a helicopter crew stationed in Colorado Springs.
Several Green Mountain National Forest employees have also been dispatched to fires in Virginia, Montana and Arizona. Another 20 employees are on standby, ready to be sent wherever in the country they are needed.
