MARSHFIELD, Vt. -
The crash, early Saturday morning, claimed the life of a Cabot man.
The accident happened on Route 2 in Marshfield. Police say 63-year-old Nelson "Bud" Abbott was traveling west, around 3 AM, when he failed to negotiate a turn. Police say Abbott went off the road, hit a utility pole, and was thrown from his vehicle. He died from his injuries. Route 2 was closed to traffic while crews repaired the lines. It has since reopened.
The accident is still being investigated but police say it does not appear that alcohol was a factor.
