Plenty of plays during the Lake Monsters six game homestand last week:
3. We have to give the Lake Monsters opponents some credit. Monday night Connecticut center fielder, Danry Vasquez, made an amazing over the shoulder grab before smacking the wall. On Friday, Lowell second baseman Jason Thompson made a nifty transition from glove to bare hand as he throws to first for the out.
2. The Monsters defense came up with some gems as well. Saturday, second baseman Christopher Bostick made a great stop before throwing to first for the out. Later in that game, Center Fielder Dayton Alexander made a great diving grab.
1. But this week was about the walk-off wins. First on Monday night, Chad Lewis singles home the game winning run in the bottom of the ninth in a victory over Connecticut. Then, in the 13th inning Saturday, with runners at second and third, Wilfredo Salano hit one to right that was misplayed the outfielder. Austin Booker comes home on the error.
