
Andrew Wheating and Courtnay Pilypaitis are going to the London Olympics after top performances in their respective sports Sunday.
Wheating, a native of Norwich, finished third in the 1500m finals at the U.S. track and field trials in Eugene, OR. It's Wheating's second appearance in the summer games. He competed in the 800m back in 2008.
Pilypaitis scored a game high 21 points and added six assists as her Canadian beat Japan, 71-63 at the Olympic Qualifying tournament in Turkey. It's Canada's first women's basketball team to make the summer games since 2000. Pilypaitis, who led the UVM women's basketball team to back to back America East Titles in 2009 and 2010, was named tournament MVP.
