VERNON, Vt. -
More than three dozen people were arrested Sunday at a protest at the Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant in Vernon.
The SAGE Alliance staged the demonstration, complete with a giant Holstein cow made out of cardboard. The group wants the Vernon plant to be closed-- an issue that is under review in the federal courts and before state regulators.
About 40 protesters intentionally crossed a boundary set up by Vt. State police and were arrested for trespassing.
Dozens of police officers from across the state were on hand for the demonstration and the arrests were made without resistance.
