BURLINGTON, Vt. -
Church Street businesses are closer to reaching compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act-- 22 years after it took effect.
Earlier this year, the U.S. Attorney's office told several businesses on Church Street they needed to make accessibility changes or face penalties.
Monday, federal officials announced that Leunig's Bistro has addressed most of the issues found during an on-site survey. The restaurant made changes to its dining areas and restrooms. The main entranceway still needs to be widened.
Businesses say the U.S. Attorney's office has been accommodating as they work to come into compliance.
