Blue-green algae closes NY beaches

PORT HENRY, N.Y. -

Blue-green algae sightings have closed both the Moriah Town Beach and the Port Henry Village Beach.

The Plattsburgh Press-Republican says state health department officials are testing the areas.

Lifeguards and equipment from the Moriah Town Beach have been relocated to the bay side of the town campgrounds, and the same parking lot can be used to access that beach.

The Port Henry Village beach may reopen by Friday if the water stays clear.
