Dive teams find body of NH kayaker in Conn River

HINSDALE, N.H. -

Search crews have recovered the body of a missing kayaker from the Connecticut River.

57-year-old Thomas Howell of Hinsdale was last seen swimming beside his kayak just above the Vernon Dam in Hinsdale Thursday-- an area known to have a strong current. Witnesses say within minutes he disappeared.

Dive teams found Howell's body Friday in about 15 feet of water.

Officials say it appears alcohol was a factor in Howell's death. He was not wearing a life jacket.
