BENSON, Vt. (AP) - The Vermont State Police say a 28-year-old Ohio woman is in critical condition after jumping from the cab of a moving tractor-trailer truck in the town of Benson.

Police say Elizabeth Lyons, of Lynchburg, Ohio, jumped from the vehicle at about 1:30 a.m. Friday and was found a short time later with a severe head injury. She is being treated at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.

Police say Lyons was a passenger in the truck driven by 51-year-old Robert Simpson, also of Lynchburg, who stopped to look for Lyons after she jumped.

She was found a short time later by police responding to the scene after they received a call from another motorist.

Police say the incident does not appear to be suspicious, but their investigation is continuing.
