BURLINGTON, Vt. -
A warning from experts about ticks. They are popping up everywhere.
The warm weather makes the tiny bugs active just as everyone heads outside to take advantage of the summer weather. Deer ticks can carry Lyme disease, and in the past few years the number of cases of Lyme disease has increased.
Last year the Vt. Health Department says there were about 500 reports of people with Lyme disease. That's up from just 18 reported cases over a decade ago. It's a problem that is being spotted by health care providers, often before patients even know they have the disease.
Emelia Brogna is a physical therapist at PT 360 in Williston. She appeared on The :30 to talk about Lyme disease. Watch the video for more.
