Dummerston bridge repairs back on track

VERNON, Vt. -

A project to repair a historic covered bridge in Dummerston is back on track after being delayed.

The 140-year-old bridge over the West River was seriously damaged during Tropical Storm Irene. The town had hoped to reopen the bridge to buses and emergency vehicles this past fall but the project had several setbacks.

Now select board members have given preliminary approval to a $235,000 construction bid from a Vernon company to repair it.
