Utilities urge energy conservation during heat wave

Posted: Updated:
JOHNSON, Vt. -

With the recent heat wave and demand for more electricity to stay cool Vermont utilities are urging customers to conserve electricity.

With another hot one on tap today, Vermont Electric Cooperative is encouraging its members to conserve energy between the hours of 2 and 6 when demand for electricity is expected to peak. Some tips include, turn off all unnecessary lights, delay use of major appliances such as dishwashers, washing machines, and clothes dryers and raise thermostats by 3 degrees.
