MONTPELIER, Vt. -
The State of Vermont finished the fiscal year slightly in the black and revenues grew for a third straight year, but tax collections are still not quite back to where they were before the recession.
Total general fund revenues for Fiscal 2012 were more than 1.19 billion dollars. That's .6 percent of the revenue forecast from state economists.
In real dollars, tax collections for 2012 were about 30 million better than Fiscal 2011.
But going back to the pre-recession total of 2008, this year's total was still a few million short of that mark.
In analyzing the figures from this past year, the Shumlin administration is pleased with the gains and especially the strength of personal income, sales and use, and meals and rooms taxes.
