Grace Cottage Hospital in Townshend made a commitment Wednesday to offer healthy hospital food.
The hospital joined more than 300 others nationwide to take the "Healthy Food in Health Care" pledge. Along with cutting down on food and packaging waste, and moving away from sodas, the hospital is also now buying vegetables locally though the Windham Farm and Food Network.
"It is so much more healthy. You know where it is being grown; you know where you are buying it from. It's not being bought from some place where you don't know if the farmers are washing their hands properly. It's nice to know the farmers we are getting this stuff from," said Denise Choleva of Grace Cottage Hospital.
The hospital also planted a small garden on the property as a reminder to their commitment to local food.
