BURLINGTON, Vt. -
It's a sure sign of summer-- hot dogs. And if you drove on Flynn Avenue in Burlington Wednesday, you might have thought it was your lucky day. McKenzie Meats was dishing out their signature franks at the can't-beat price of free.
"We're gluten-free, allergen-free and today they are free!" said Greg Rouille of McKenzie Meats.
Ben Danowitz: Being in college, free anything and we'll eat it. I mean, we usually just get Ramen noodles and survive on that.
Reporter Gina Bullard: So this is a serious meal for you?
Danowitz: Yeah, it's real.
The entire month of July is dedicated to hot dogs. July 23 is actually Hot Dog Day, but what's wrong with celebrating early? According to the National Hog Dog and Sausage Council, Americans eat more than 7 billion hot dogs between Memorial Day and Labor Day. McKenzie's alone will be handing out 500 this day.
Bullard: What do you think about free hot dogs?
Abby Blin, 9: Great, because they're free.
"You think summer, picnics at the beach, backyard barbecue; think of all the things you do with hot dogs and it's all good times," Rouille said.
And no matter how you top it, this is one deal that's too tasty to pass up.
