Small pest poses big threat to Lake Champlain

A new invasive species is headed for Lake Champlain. It's the spiny water flea. The invasive crustacean is in the Champlain canal system, just miles from Lake Champlain. It eats the same organisms that smaller fish feed on and some officials fear it could devastate the area fisheries.

Jason Stockwell the director of the Rubenstein Ecosystems Science Lab at UVM. Ellen Marsden is a professor of fisheries at the Rubenstein Lab. They both appeared on The :30 to talk about the flea.
