BARRE, Vt. -
Visitors to downtown Barre can keep their quarters.
Parking in the area of Merchant's Row will now be free. It's a move designed to eliminate confusion and aid shop owners while construction continues on the Barre Big Dig.
The Times-Argus reports the free parking plan could place the city at a $2,500 loss, but officials hope it will lure shoppers to stores that remain open during construction.
But, once the big dig comes to a close, you will need to feed the meters once again.
