ANTWERP, N.Y. -
Multiple people killed in a fiery pileup in New York had ties to our region.
Police say a line of cars was stopped in a work zone on Route 11 in Antwerp when a tractor-trailer slammed into a Subaru, which caused a chain reaction and an SUV burst into flames.
They're identified as Laurie Dana, 42, of Lawrence; her daughters, Catelyn, 14, and Lauren, 11; Janet Dana, 69; and Shannon Planty, 14.
Police say the driver of the Subaru, Maryann Gregory, 59, of Dickinson Center, died at a hospital.
The Plattsburgh Press-Republican reports the Danas had ties to the Brushton-Moria community and were running a farm on Route 11.
