BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont woman has been charged with forging her ex-husband's signature to cash checks, withdrawing nearly $9,000 from his account.
Janice Marine Bostwick of Brattleboro has pleaded not guilty to four counts of forgery.
The Brattleboro Reformer reports Robert Marine told police a few of his checks were missing and when he went to the bank and reviewed his statements, he saw dozens of checks he hadn't written where someone had forged his signature. He said many were made out to his ex-wife.
A police affidavit says Marine Bostwick cashed or deposited 27 checks from her ex-husband's account. When she was asked if she had forged his signature, she said she didn't think so.
