MONTPELIER, Vt. -
A snub by members of Vermont's State Democratic Committee. The group voted Saturday not to endorse Bill Sorrell's re-election campaign for Attorney General.
He has been endorsed by the committee several times in the past and told WCAX-TV back in May he fully expected to receive the endorsement this time. Sorrell's democratic Challenger, T.J. Donovan, has received the committee's endorsement.
Committee members WCAX spoke with said Sorrell did a poor job of lobbying members for their support. They also cited his use of a non-union printer for recent campaign materials.
"I don't believe there is any strife or divide within the Vermont Democratic Committee," said Vermont Democratic Party Spokeswoman, Ariel Wengroff. "The vote doesn't change the opportunity or resources that Bill Sorrell is going to be available to in the office. I believe the committee is going to be reviewing some of the by-laws and looking into the way some of the language is written for further meetings and endorsements."
Sorrell told Burlingtion Free Press that while he would have preferred the committee's backing, no one can legitimately challenge his Democratic credentials.
